Injured Hock - Horse goes on to Compete in the Nationals

My horse, Timmy, injured his right hock by kicking down a temporary stable at the under 21s Championships. The hock was so swollen, hot and sore, that I was really worried that we wouldn't get him home from Sheepgate in one piece.

He was due to compete at the National Dressage Championships a few weeks later, but with his bad hock he was on total box rest. Our vet recommended cold hosing, cooling gels and bute. Despite this regime, the hock did not seem to be getting any better.

Things were getting very desperate, we only had ten days before the Championships, a friend Brigitte, recommended that I ask a healer to come and see Timmy. Trevor Charles laid his hands on Timmy's hock; he immediately felt the heat and the pain of the injury.

Using only his hands he held the swollen hock, after about 30 minutes he said "that's it lets see how we go" after a few hours the swelling started to reduce, the hock became cooler to touch. Within two days Timmy was able to be 'trotted up sound' and on the third day went back in to light schooling.

He went on to compete at the Nationals where he was placed. I doubt very much that without Trevor's intervention Timmy would have made it. Timmy and I owe a lot to Trevor for getting us there.
